Getting Geared for Spring Sports

When winter draws to a close, it’s time to get ready for the next round of spring sports! Depending on your sport, you’ll most likely have a variety of sporting tools and wearables to get you ready to enjoy the games, and now is a perfect time to get geared up. Here are a few things you might want to consider when you’re ready to get out there and get your supplies.

Gloves, Bats, and Other Size-Dependent Items

Spring is a great time for kids to join in the sports world as well as adults, but keep in mind you’ll need to buy new versions of a lot of athletic equipment. Even things like baseball bats and gloves should be upgraded when a child outgrows them. Your child should try on a few gloves to make sure the fit is not too tight and that there is plenty of support. With baseball bats, you’ll need to check the weight and length to see what will best suit your child (or yourself).

Accessories

While not strictly sports gear, accessories are still an important part of making your sports activities more enjoyable. As we come to rely more and more on our mobile devices and don’t like to be without them for much time, phone accessories should be your first stop for getting ready for spring sports.

First, you’ll want to think about your phone case. While your regular slim silicone case is probably good enough for your day-to-day activities, you’ll definitely want something a little more durable for when you are playing your sport of preference. Look for something a bit thicker with drop and impact protection. If you play an outdoor sport, keep those April showers from breaking down your phone with a waterproof case. In addition, you’ll want to make sure you have a good tempered glass screen protector.

If you like to listen to music to get yourself ramped up for the big game, it might be wise to invest in some high-quality headphones. Choose a sport or active version that will hook onto your ear and has a good silicone covering that won’t slip out of your ears. While wireless headphones are popular and comfortable, make sure that if you use this type that you won’t lose them while you practice or work out.

New Shoes

Even though athletic shoes are made to be durable and last through a whole season of athletic abuse, you will probably have to replace them for the new spring season. Now is a great time to go shoe shopping, but make sure you know what you’re looking for. For any sport, you’ll want to make sure they are well-made and have good materials, like durable rubber outsoles. Inspect the stitching and gluing to make sure everything looks like it will hold up. If your sport requires a specific type of shoe, make sure to try on a variety of options before you settle on one.
